Default New user, back/chest hair removal, Cool Glide Laser

Hello. This is my first post. I am 22 year old, almost 23 and I am a very hairy guy. I started getting facial hair and chest and stomach hair in middle school and by my freshman year in high school I was groing back hair. I have always hated it and can't wait to get rid of it. It is just so stressful to never be comfortable in your own skin. I shave my back, arms and shoulder on a regular, almost daily basis. I trim my chest and stomach hair back with clippers but last time I did it the guard came off and I ended up having to shave my entire upper body front and back. I have decided after this that it is time to get the laser removal that I have been wanting for years. I am a college student though and I know it is going to be expensive but I just don't care anymore. I am going to use student loans to pay for it because they are going to be lower interest than any other loan I could get to pay for it when I get out of school. Anytime I meet a girl all I can think about is what will she think if I end up taking my shirt off in front of her. I don't even feel comfortable around my parents or other family when if comes to taking my shirt off. Of the 14 grandkids on my dads side of the family I am twice as hairy as any of the other boys. I think that this will give me a lot more confidence with girls as well as everything else. I'm not a bad looking guy, it's just that the body hair is always in the back of my mind. I am also about to start the P90X workout program so I really want to transform everything about my body.

Have any guys out there had success with laser hair removal. I have seen some before and after pics on the Internet and they look amazing. If anyone has any I would like to see them and hear your story. Also, the place that I am going to for the consultation uses the Cool Glide laser which is supposed to cool as it works and be one of the best on the market. I go in for my consultation on Sept 9th because that was the soonest that I could get in. I have light skin with no tan in the areas I want hair removed because I never take my shirt off outside and my hair is very dark and coarse. From everything that I have read I am a great canidate. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Default A professional

As a technician and owner, I will give you my opinion and professional view. We have had great success with men.

Assuming that you are a candidate, light skinned (not necessarily paper white) and dark haired (again, not necessarily black hair). You should have great results too. An Alex Laser is your most effective for killing hair follicles and should be considered for the job. Ask if that is what they are using. Also, you should be prepared to have upwards of 8-10 treatments, if you are as dense as you state. A good LHR center will offer you no guarantee as to the reduction, but they should offer you considerable price reductions after 6 or 7 treatments. Also, has a doctor ever indicated a medical reason for the hair growth? You should ask that of a doctor first, as LHR can be more effective if you fix a medical reason for excessive hair growth. That being said, not all hairy situations have a medical reason. If you are Caucasian, I advise the use of a Candella GentleLase, as that is the best laser on the market today.

You can expect little to no side effects if you are not on light sensitive meds or have had no recent sun exposure. You should have mild edema (swelling) and red bumps where treated. This should subside in 2 hours to 2 days the longest. If you are honest with your provider and they use the Fitzpatrick Skin Typing scale, you should be fine. 1-14 days after your treatment, you should expect FALL OUT. That is your body pushing out the burnt, dead hair out of the follicle. This should not be confused with new growth. This will appear as "tiny black pepper" under your skin. It can be frustrating, but it is harmless and will exfoliate away or can be helped along with the razor. This will lessen with each treatment. Sun exposure and skin irritants should be avoided. Keeping on schedule is important too!

As a provider, I welcome email inquires, as the LHR industry needs well qualified technicians and educated clients.

I am pretty sure that my hair growth is just heriditary. My dad has a really hairy stomach and chest but very little back hair. My grandfather on my mothers side is hairy chested as well. Most of my uncles are hairy and one uncle is hairy like me on his front and back.

I don't really have a whole lot of treatment options in my area. I live in Bowling Green, KY with a population of about 60,000. There is only one place in the area that I can find that does laser hair removal and the laser they use is the CoolGlide. The next closest place is in Nashville, TN which is about an hour away. I was noticing on my chest that I have many hairs growing out of the exact same spot.

I hope that I can talk them into giving me a deal since I am a college student.

Default Students

All centers are different. Our standard practice is to offer students 20% off, with the promise that they will hand out our cards to everyone they meet and talk about their positive experience. Word of mouth is the best advertisement in LHR! Great results and happy, educated customers bring us more business than all the ads put together! For our younger clientele, the teenagers, the moms go nuts handing out our stuff to other moms and we prosper that way. You can ask for a student discount and offer to solicit business for them. For our struggling college students, we even offered them a complimentary treatment every time a referral purchased a package of over $1000. Make the offer, see what they say. Either way, you will be happy with LHR, it can really change your confidence! I wish you luck and if you have a question, please post.
