Gillette Co. said yesterday that it will pump $7 million into a Burlington company's efforts to develop a women's laser hair removal device for home use.
Palomar Medical Technologies Inc. makes light-based and laser-based systems for hair removal and other cosmetic treatments. The firm's devices are used in doctors offices, clinics, spas and salons.
High-powered laser hair removal procedures create a $2.2 billion market worldwide, $1.6 billion of which is spent on women's hair removal, Palomar said. But the treatments tend to be expensive.
